Building sustainable luxury (Denise Dupré, Champagne Hospitality)

Plus: CitizenM's designer on a new project, talent disruption, and updates from our community

Good morning. The physical environment you operate from plays a big role in the guest experience and the way you can provide hospitality. To help us understand what it's like to create these well, we're learning from a developer of boutique luxury hotels across France and the Caribbean.

I’m also introducing a new section to this email: updates from our community. Hospitality Daily is more than an email and podcast - it’s a community of creators and doers like yourself. You can find all the cool things that are going on after our feature story today.

Building Sustainable Luxury

with Denise Dupré, founder and managing partner of Champagne Hospitality

Today we're learning from Denise Dupré about developing new hotels. A few excerpts from our conversation:

The most exciting thing in development today: “One word: Sustainability. We care about it. Our staff cares about it. Our guests care about it.”

Sustainability is more than just development: “We look at not only can we build more sustainably, but how can we build to operate in the most efficient way.”

The challenge: “Providing an authentic, luxurious experience while cutting down on energy use.”

Example of overcoming this: “For hundreds of years people have been really innovative about using cross breezes for cooling. We want to give our guests the option to use this.”
