Today weโ€™ll be looking at:

  • Something I found at the San Francisco Fairmont this afternoon

  • A glimpse into Brian Chesky's Airbnb innovation roadmap

The โ€˜Bee Hotelโ€™ at the San Francisco Fairmont

This afternoon I was at the San Francisco Fairmont, and came across this:

Brilliant! Simple. Great for the environment. A fun attraction for visitors.

BTW: They have some pretty great vintage promotional posters too:

Iโ€™d like to see more hotels with history like this show their history through galleries on property (and their website). It does a great job giving a sense of place to guests and visitors.

Learning from Brian Chesky's Airbnb roadmap

Last week Airbnbโ€™s Brian Chesky asked for innovation inspiration from his Twitter followers:

For anyone in hospitality, this thread is worth a read to see what people are asking for when it comes to lodging. A few that stood out to me:

@bchesky Global membership for nomads. Iโ€™d pay yโ€™all a 12 month lease to keep me housed around the world.

@bchesky I just want three filters: Small kids-friendly, pet-friendly, has a nice view. I guess Iโ€™m not part of your target audience anymore since I got kids ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ. I used to love Airbnb, but itโ€˜s unusable for me if I have to read through all the listings if they have a highchair or cot.

@bchesky Company retreats. Curate places based on employee count. Spin off a version of the current timeline view for people ops teams to plug in events (custom or Airbnb experiences) and easily share schedule with their teams.
