Now that’s a story you can tell your future grandchildren – your hotel stay in a shipping container! We’ve seen pop-up shops, restaurants, clubs, parties, bars and workplaces. But a pop-up hotel is definitely a new one.
Sleeping Around is the new concept that operates as a “pop-up hotel”, i.e. not at a fixed location. They recycle and reuse six, 20 feet-tall, abandoned containers in order to create an accommodation facility that is able to move and pop up in unique locations.
In their own words: “Our pop-up hotel offers a readymade answer: a compact yet luxurious hotel room, equipped with all the mod cons: a box-spring bed, rain shower, iPod docking station and air conditioning – all contained in a 20ft recycled sea container.”
“We think green and employ only ecologically responsible materials. The containers themselves are produced in China, after which they are used for worldwide transport. As it is not always profitable to return the containers empty, they are often left behind in ports, including Antwerp’s. This unique concept offers the ideal mix of adventure and comfort at some of the most impressive locations in the city.”
The new hotel startup is based in Antwerp, Belgium and is the brainchild of four, “fascinated by containers and the idea of a mobile hotel”.
A night at the pop-up hotel costs 149€ a night week days and 199€ on Fridays and Saturdays. Would you “sleep around”?
