China is continuing to see the expansion of Marriott International, with the announcement of a new hotel opening in the city of Shanghai (Marriott’s 14th hotel in China).
The new hotel with 323 rooms, goes by the name Shanghai Marriott Hotel Pudong East, and will be managed thanks to a long-term management agreement with Shanghai Hengchang Industry.
Marriott International’s President and CEO, Arne Sorenson, speaking at the opening of the hotel said: “We are delighted to be opening this wonderful Marriott Hotels & Resorts property today and adding to our extensive portfolio of hotels in China across all our brands. This hotel represents our 62nd hotel in the country and our 20th in Shanghai alone, where we are the largest operator of full-scale hotels in the city. I would like to thank our partner in this hotel, Shanghai Hengchang Industry Co., Ltd., for their trust and granting us the opportunity to manage such a magnificent hotel and we look forward to a long partnership with them.”
To mark the opening, Shanghai Marriott Hotel Pudong East is launching “a series of special offers” including “bonus points for Marriott Rewards members”, and entitlement to “free buffet breakfast for a minimum consecutive stay” amongst others.
Located in the center of Pudong and surrounded by fortune 500 companies, the hotel promises to be a hit with business travelers.
